Reversible Owl Messenger Bag

It's purse week over at A Lemon Squeezy Home so I decided to make myself a bag for the contest. I have been thinking about this bag for weeks. Actually it was the bag I made for my mom that inspired me. The fabric was such a good weight . I loved the blue zigzag fabric and for some reason it was screaming messenger bag to me. I am not sure why, but I was obsessed with making it reversible. I finally made it all happen this weekend. I have to say that it turned out exactly how I envisioned it too. Don't you love it when that happens?

Here's my new favorite purse.

I added a large pocket on the back to hold a book or my idea notebook.

Here is the other side.

I added pockets on the side since I am always toting around a water bottle.

Since I was feeling very organized with my new bag, I also made a matching composition notebook cover, a wallet clutch, and a zipper pouch.

This wallet clutch will come in handy when I don't want to carry the bigger bag. It is big enough to hold my cell phone and car keys. So I can just grab it out of the bag and go.

Here's a look inside the wallet clutch.

This pouch will hold all the other random things that are normally floating around my purse.

I had planned on doing a tutorial, but decided not to at the last minute. I did write down all my measurements though so at least I can make another one without having to try and remember what I did.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot the fabric is by Premier Prints and it is home decor weight fabric.
****edited to add- I think I will do a tutorial after all. I am planning to make another one as a gift. Plus my husband mentioned wanting a larger manly version. So I will take photos next go around and put a tutorial together.

OH, Jen. I can't even tell you how loud I squealed when I saw this! I have that owl fabric sitting and waiting on my sewing table for something and it looks so perfect as a messenger bag. But then all the extras, too! Oh, I'm so incredibly inspired. I need to sew, NOW!

Fantastic job.

Great job on everything! IT is super cute! I love all the POCKETS. I know I need lots of pockets in the bags I make. That was something I forgot on my to do list...a new bag. :)

Great fabric and that bag is very cool. I have only sewn a few bags so far but nothing with zippers or pockets yet- still learning!!

Where did you get that awesome owl fabric?
